FAQ about logging in and passwords

  1. I cannot log in.
  2. Can I log in with my student ID number?
  3. I forgot my password.
  4. I forgot my Keio ID.

  6. How can I change my password?
  7. My password was stolen (or was obtained by someone). What should I do?

  13. I logged in, but after being away from the PC for a while, I found myself not able to use the system again.

  16. If it tries to open "Software Licensing", in case the error of Forbidden etc. will be displayed.

(A1) Please see If Login Fails in the User's Guide
        If you still cannot log in after consulting the guide, contact the Help Desk.

(Q2) Can I log in with my student ID number?
(A2) You cannot log in with your student ID. Please use your Keio ID.

(Q3) I forgot my password.
(A3) Bring your ID to the KIC office on each campus.

       Students: student ID card
       Faculty and staff members: faculty and staff ID card, driver's license (Japanese), driving history certificate (issued on or after April 1, 2012), passport, health insurance card,or residence card * Individual number card is not available

        You will be asked for either your student ID, Employee Number (ID Number), or Keio ID. Be prepared to provide at least one of these forms of identification upon request.
        For security reasons, if you do not present your ID card, or if you send someone in your place, your application will not be accepted.

(Q4) I forgot my Keio ID.
(A4) Bring your ID to the KIC office on each campus.

        For security reasons, if you do not present your ID card, or if you send someone in your place, your application will not be accepted.

(Q6) How can I change my password?
(A6) You can find the procedure for changing your password in the User's Guide. Please refer to that guide.

(Q7) My password was stolen (or was obtained by someone). What should I do?
        I lost the paper that had my Keio ID and password. What should I do?
(A7) Please change your password immediately.
        If you cannot change your password or there is any sign of unauthorized use, contact the Help Desk.

(Q8) I cannot change my password.
(A8) You can find the procedure for changing your password in the User's Guide. Please refer to that guide.
        If you still cannot change your password, contact the Help Desk.

(Q9) What is the maximum length of the password and what kind of characters can I use?
(A9) Please see the Restrictions on the Keio ID and Password in the User's Guide.

(Q10) My last login date/time shows a date/time when I did not log in.
(A10) Did you use any other Keio Single Sign-On application at the time?
        If you do not know, contact the Help Desk.

(Q11) Where can I find the login page for keio.jp?
(A11) The URL is https://login.keio.jp/koid/start.do.

(Q12) What does login mean?
(A12) The login is a procedure for authenticating a user, using a Keio ID and a corresponding password.
        It confirms that the user is who they claim to be and that they are authorized to access keio.jp
        When the login is successful, the person is allowed to use applications on keio.jp for which they are authorized.

(Q13) I logged in, but after being away from the PC for a while, I found myself not able to use the system again.
(A13) For security reasons, a user is automatically logged off after there is no activity for 30 minutes.
        Please log in again.

(Q14) Can I log into the system while I am away from the university, such as from home?
(A14) You can use the system from any place where you have an internet connection and a Web browser.

(Q15) What do I do when the message "You are now logged off because there was no activity after a certain period of time." is displayed and I cannot log in again?
(A15) A possible cause is that there are items stored in your browser's cache that are preventing you from logging in.
        Please see How to clear the browser's cache and other records.

(Q16) If it tries to open "Software Licensing", in case the error of Forbidden etc. will be displayed.
(A16) "Software Licensing" has permitted only access with the right referrer information.
        Please permit send of referrer information by setup of a browser(or a security software).

(Q17) When I accessed keio.jp, an error message "keio.jp - 過去のリクエスト" was displayed.
(A17) Please check the following hints.

  1. If the time of the device is not correct, please set accurate time.
  2. Please clear the cache of your browser.

  3. If you are accessing from bookmarks, please change the bookmark to"http://keio.jp/".
  4. If you are accessing from the hyperlink written in Microsoft Office documents, please set the corresponding URL in the bookmark or directly set the URL to the browser. It is possible to access from a hyperlink of PDF file, so convert the Microsoft Office file to PDF to use it.

(Q18) When I accessed keio.jp, an error message "keio.jp - 捕捉されなかった例外" was displayed.
(A18) This message does not hinder accessing keio.jp, so please ignore it and try to access keio.jp again. If you still cannot log in to keio.jp successfully, please clear the browser cache and restart the browser.
